Introducing the New Elements & Widgets of Bloginity V8.0
Tonight we are happy to announce & introduce to you the new elements and widgets of Bloginity 8.0
After a lot of thought, countless hours of no sleep and the skipping of one-too-many lunch breaks I’ve finally introduced and successfully migrated to Bloginity V8.0.
Through the last 6 months we have gone from V7.2 to V7.8 one by one. Introducing new elements, styles, and ideas that cultivated Bloginity Version 8.0. The main focus was keeping it elegant, classy and up-to-date with todays industry while of course maintaing a proper Web 2.0 look.

The widget above, we call the Designer A-Z Widget which features an “All-Access” to all the “goodies” around the fashion side of Bloginity.com. It features easy-access links to Paris Fashion Week, London Fashion Week, New York Fashion Week and last but not least Milan Fashion Week as well as a Designer A-Z directory of only the designers Bloginity.com covers. This list, of course, will continue to enhance itself as we grow.
The next widget we introduced is the Model A-Z Directory Widget (see screenshot below)

Same description as above, yet focusing on the models of which Bloginity covers on day-to-day basis. This widget includes easy-access links to the current Beauty & Fashion trends with an A-Z directory.
A new fun thing we introduced is “The Box of Inspiration”, the title says it all. This widget is featured below all posts across the site.

Last but not least.. We introduced a new homepage slider, which I personally think is great. Screenshot below.

It is such a great achievement for Bloginity to be included in its roster.” – Daniel Haim, Editor in Chief and Founder of Bloginity.com

Bloginity Named ‘One of the Web’s Best Entertainment Spots’
Hi everyone, Daniel here. Today is a good day for me as I woke up to a Google alert which I’ve been waiting for. Acknowledgement of what we have been doing here! A devoted reader, who happens to also write for Allmyfaves.com has stumbled over our website since May and has named Bloginity as ‘One of the Web’s Best Entertainment Spots‘.
This is a very honorable moment for all of us here at Bloginity and we would like to thank everyone who has been on board with us, believed in what we do and helped us get to this stage. And like we say this is just the beginning of the beginning.
Here is what Anna Katz from Allmyfaves.com said
Bloginity – One of the most prevalent website categories online today is that related to ‘entertainment.’ There are hundreds if not thousands of gossip and celebrity sites and blogs, TV and film sources and many others under the entertainment umbrella. Standing out in this overcrowded arena is not only difficult, it’s almost impossible. But one particular site has managed to do just that with tons of style: Bloginity.

Bloginity B6 is here, backed up with new widgets and a new typeface.

Hey everyone, Daniel here and so are the holidays. In case you’ve been following our personal journey with Bloginity over the past year or so, you may feel a slight sense of deja-vu, as once again I’m going to tell you that the team has been working very hard on the new site; we’re proud to say it’s finally coming together piece by piece.
What we’ve been up to
In August 2010, I had the pleasure of meeting EMOTIONstudios CEO & Founder Mihai Tobosaru. At the time, I had no idea we were going to end up such good friends and write so much code together during the weeks to come. As always, I’ve challenged the codes and came up with a great AJAX concept for the homepage, with some new widgets and tools. But that wasn’t enough; although the site was working like no other, it was still lacking one thing: an easy navigational system. This is something I’ve been dealing with since day one, but I’ve yet to realize how to conquer the issue and how to get better user engagement.
User engagement breakdown:
Converting visitors to users
I knew that because we’re on a WordPress template, we could turn Bloginity.com into a community site – it’s simple, everyone could register, everyone automatically becomes a contributor and can submit their own articles. No one can upload images and that is how we will avoid a virus-injection to ‘wp-content/uploads’ folder. Btw – this also applies to users ‘Liking’ us on Facebook, following us on Twitter.
Solutions are obvious – create a good registration landing page and offer a simple front-end for publishing (don’t lead them to the generic WordPress backend).
Getting user engagement
The truth is, less than 2% of the readership ends up in leaving a comment. Because of this, we took out a lot of inputs from the comment form such as website URL (which helped us fight spam) and required users to enter only first name and email, and of course – the comment. Although that increased feedback, it was not enough. So we added DISQUS, which was good for a while but with the heavy JavaScript file we decided it was not worth it because it was just slowing our website down (Yes, we are backed up by NetDNA – but still).
Brand Awareness
Another challenge – getting users to know Bloginity.com’s brand (colors, logo, name, website address) and have them come back. So far, we’ve done a pretty good job with that. Most of you know our brand colors, and of course the Bloginity name but – are the users coming back? Case studies show that if you have a successful community site, you’ll have a very high return rate for users (once every week is a great case). But we are facing much different challenges. As part of Google News and IMDB’s news division, people will land on a single Bloginity article coming to read that specific content – and not come back. The list of challenges goes on, but it’s too exhaustive to make for interesting reading.
What else is new
Aside from the fact that we’ve got a new puppy at the office and her name is Olive, there isn’t much more. We have been looking at some new office chairs… Oh wait! There is more – I would like to introduce you to ‘B6′, the sixth full version of Bloginity.com. I’m very proud of this version, as I’ve been hands-on with all design production, code production and graphic direction. This version also emerged through partnership collaborations with Typekit, who is now delivering our favorite font, ‘League Gothic,’ which originally invaded our 2010 Bloginity tagline logo, as well as ‘Bodoni’, which helped us create such a beautiful online entity.
The team of skilled coders at EMOTIONstudios helped turn Bloginity.com’s framework around. The most noticeable change is the framework itself. Although we were pleased with our 460px width content area aligned to a 160px left sidebar and a 300px right sidebar, we decided it was best to turn the content to a 600px width, and remove the 160px left sidebar, which leaves larger area for the content. The content paragraph font has been changed from Arial to Georgia. We have added a few new lines to the CSS, making the blockquote, bold, italic, H1,H2,H3,H4,H5 text look much better. Not to mention all the new widgets, such as Top 6 Posts and Now Trending.
Our plans for 2011: we plan to open user registration in January 2011, which will allowour network users to submit their own content for review and write articles to contribute our online network. I’m so excited for that!
But we’ve got so much planned for 2011 – from Android Apps to iPhone Apps, Bloginity Live, Bloginity TV to online forums and social profiles, all on Bloginity.com. That’s right, it’s going to be a very big year! But before I even present to you the new site, I want to give a big thank you and acknowledgement to all the really great people who have been there with us these past few months, or recently joined up.
First: The entire team of Bloginity – especially our new awesome interns: Charlie Nathanson and Rachel Bennett.
Other acknowledgements:
So here it is: B6. You can see the live version here. I hope you enjoy it, we would love to hear your feedback. Happy holidays everyone!

First Look At Bloginity Version 5 (The New Features)
By now, you should know that Bloginity Networks aims for innovation. Whether we’re tweaking the code behind the scenes to make minor changes or overhauling the Bloginity.com front page, we’re always looking for ways to optimize user experience and bring you things you won’t find on any other website. Every once in a while, we assemble a list of things we believe need improvement, and now that we’ve completed the latest list, we’re very excited to introduce you to the new Bloginity: Version 5. In case you haven’t noticed, here are the new features of the enhanced Bloginity.com homepage:

1) Since this tool is so unique, and never seen before anywhere else we have defined a name for it. We refer to it as The Gefilter Fish™. You Choose Your News: You can now filter (“gefilter”) the homepage to see more of what you want and none of what you don’t. Simply select your topics of interest using the checkboxes on the right, click “Filter,” and enjoy a custom blend of content that puts you in control.
2) There’s More Where That Came From: At the bottom of the Bloginity.com homepage, you now have the option to load more news. Think of this as turning the page of your magazine without having to lose what you’re already looking at. Each click loads five more articles in addition to what’s already on the page.

3) Trending Topics: Under our search box, you can find the latest trending topics, updated frequently based upon what other readers are searching for. This will clue you in to breaking trends and the hottest topics of the day so you can stay on top of the latest news and be the first to tell your friends.

4) Supersized Social Media: Chances are, you’re probably already following us on Twitter. But if you don’t have Twitter open, you can still catch our latest contributions to the world of concise conversation thanks to the large, easy-to-read Twitter feed. In addition, you can see how many of your friends are fans of us on Facebook with our Facebook fan page display below.
5) Larger Labels: Generally speaking, we’re not fans of labels. But when it comes to content, we like an easy reference to help keep things organized. With our new large, color-coded labels, you’ll be able to see what types of stories you’ll gain and what you’ll lose when you use the filtering system. This can also help sort out any confusing arising from multi-media celebrities – for instance: You’re looking for more stories about Michael Bolton’s stint on Dancing With The Stars, but don’t know whether they’d be under TV (for DWTS) or music (because Michael is a musician). Find your answer in a flash by checking the large new label.
6) Total Recall: We’re working on enabling cookies by default for our valued community members. This setup will save your filter settings so you’ll automatically see exactly what you want whenever you return to Bloginity.com – and we hope it’s frequently!

And all of these innovations have led to another opportunity – The Webby Awards. Bloginity.com will be entering the 2010 Webby Awards, which are presented by The International Academy of Digital Arts and Sciences, an organization dedicated to recognizing the best the internet has to offer. The Webby Awards honor the ingenuity and artistry of internet sites in more than 100 categories, and we’re proud to be a part of the action! Thanks for visiting Bloginty.com – we hope you enjoy your stay and take advantage of everything Bloginity Version 5 has to offer! We would like to recognize the following groups for their deep involvement in producing Bloginity Version 5.0.

Hosting Bloginity.com on a Content Delivery Network with MaxCDN

Although the internet is constantly evolving, one aspect has remained unchanged: content is king. If your website doesn’t produce consistent, high-quality content, then all of the other resources you’ve poured into your site aren’t going to be appreciated by anyone.
But producing content isn’t enough; delivering it is vital. This was the problem faced by online entertainment magazine Bloginity.com, which had a distinct brand of quality entertainment news, but struggled to reach the audience it deserved due to site performance issues, despite significant efforts.
We had upgraded our server several times to the point that we were using a full dedicated server with 8GB RAM, explained Daniel Haim, CEO of Bloginity Networks. However, the site was still a bit slow and browsing the site was a torture for us with 20 seconds loading time, even 28 seconds loading time from certain countries.
Haim knew there had to be a better solution, and when he found MaxCDN, a highly optimized content delivery system, he was skeptical, but was willing to try it out, given the attractive price.
“We were not sure what the outcome of joining MaxCDN would be,” Haim explained. The price at the time was so low that it did not make any sense to not give it a try and MaxCDN was perhaps the best thing we’ve ever tried.
Haim explained that the impact of MaxCDN was immediate and obvious reducing site load time by 25 seconds, no matter what country visitors were coming from.
Our work experience has improved tremendously, said Haim. No matter where you browse our site from — during peak times in Hong Kong, London, or New York, Bloginity.com loads in two to five seconds. Even our competitors have been asking us what we are using.
The speed opened up new possibilities for Bloginity.com with a richer, more interactive site design and additional video and picture galleries now available to viewers in no time.
“MaxCDN not only enhanced our work experience but also enhanced the experience for the end-user browsing our site,” Haim said. I am very glad to say that our page views increased instantly after joining the CDN network, mainly because of the smooth browsing experience.
The best part was the ease of transition and implementation. MaxCDN integrated instantly with Bloginity.com’s WordPress panel with a plugin called W3 Total Cache. They are also highly responsive to customer service inquiries.
“The customer service received by MaxCDN is world-class. They know who we are and they take care of us instantly,” explained Haim. I do not know if our online magazine would be able to handle such traffic without MaxCDN’s help. The way our site operates speaks for itself.

Survey Shows Celebrity Crimes Is America’s Favorite Type Of Celebrity Scandal

Bloginity Networks “2010 Scandalous Celebs” Survey Uncovers More Than Half Of Americans Interested In Celebrity Crime Much More Than Sex Tapes, Cheating, Rehab And Divorce
NEW YORK – August 3rd, 2010 – Americans love their celebrity gossip and nothing seems to dominate the headlines like a scandal involving a famous actor, athlete, musician or politician. According to a new survey by online entertainment news provider Bloginity Networks, when it comes to celebrity scandals, Americans are most interested in news about celebrities committing crimes and going to jail.
Fresh on the heels of Lindsay Lohan’s release from jail, the survey of 1,050 U.S. adults, conducted by Surge Research, found that 56 percent of Americans prefer to read about celebrity crime more than any other type of celeb scandal, including celebrities entering rehab or making and distributing sex tapes. Surprisingly, only 18 percent of those surveyed said they want to see more coverage of a celebrity cheating on his or her spouse, indicating that the Tiger Woods and Jesse James affairs may have received too much coverage.
With their focus clearly on celebrity crime, Bloginity Networks asked respondents how they felt when they learned about a star being sentenced to time in jail. More than half of American adults (52%) said they feel validated when a celebrity is sent to jail, feeling the punishment fits the crime committed. Just 24 percent of adults surveyed said they are surprised to learn about a celeb going to jail because they normally don’t receive harsh punishment for their crimes, while 17 percent feel disappointed in the star who’s a role model for children.
“Interest in celebrity scandals has clearly shifted from affairs, divorce, rehab and sex tapes to crime and punishment; this indicates the public feels victimized by a history of celebrity bad behavior, ” said Daniel Haim, Founder and CEO of Bloginity Networks.
“Americans have an insatiable thirst for Hollywood gossip and while celebrity crime is currently satisfying their appetite, it’s yet to be seen if their preference is simply tied to the scandal of the moment.”
Respondents were also asked why they believed celebrity scandals have become so common today and nearly 70 percent of Americans indicated that celebrities don’t feel the rules or laws apply to them, making it the major cause of their outrageous behavior and subsequent problems.
The Bloginity Networks “2010 Scandalous Celebs” online survey was conducted by Surge Research, Inc. (www.surgeresearch.com) from July 26 – 28, 2010. This survey measured the opinions of 1,050 American adults ages 18-64 and has a margin of error of +/- 3 percentage points at the 95% incidence level.
Founded in 2008, Bloginity Networks has quickly developed into a trend-setter in the fast-paced world of entertainment news. Bloginity Networks is comprised of several heavily trafficked Web sites that are updated 50 to 75 times per day with breaking news and original content across all fields of entertainment. The flagship property of the Bloginity network is Bloginity.com(www.bloginity.com), an online culture entertainment magazine offering a unique mix of information, including breaking news, celebrity news and gossip, exclusive interviews, video premieres, album, film and TV reviews, and art, photography, design reviews and showcases.

In the past month we have seen steady growth, with revenue and readership increasing beyond even our most optimistic expectations. In addition, we have expanded our roster of writers, which will benefit our coverage and help us bring a wider breadth of quality content to readers in the future.

Our focus on efficiently producing high-quality, unique content has helped us stand out among our peers – data from web information database Alexa indicates a dramatic increase in reach; Bloginity.com has climbed the ladder from among the 100,000 most-visited sites on the internet into the 80,000s. According to our readers, the design work has been successful – nearly 36% of respondents said they loved the design, while around 34% said they liked it.
